print NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

All schools that participate in the National School Meal Programs are required to follow USDA mandated nutritional regulations that were set forth as part of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act 2010, signed into law by President Obama in December of 2010.

 

Each 9-12 Lunch includes:

  • Protein, minimum of 2 ounces, not to exceed 12 ounces per week
  • 1 cup Vegetables
  • 1 cup Fruit
  • Minimum of 2 Servings of Grains, ½ of which must be whole grain, not to exceed 12 total servings per week
  • 8 ounces of fluid milk

 

In addition, on a weekly basis, students are offered vegetables in the following required subgroups: Dark Green Leafy, Red/Orange, Legumes, Starchy and Other

 

Nutrient Requirements for 9-12 include:

  • Calorie Range- minimum of 750 and maximum of 850
  • Saturated Fat- not to exceed 10% of total calories
  • 0 g. of Trans Fat
  • 2014 Sodium target of 740mg. or less

 

2012-13 Breakfast requirements are as follows:

  • ½ cup Fruit/Juice, not to exceed 50% offering of juice
  • 2 Grains OR 1 Grain and 1 oz. Protein
  • 8 ounces of fluid milk
