Welcome to the new school year! We
have been busy all Summer preparing for your student’s return. As you know, we
have very strict guidelines from both the Federal Food and Drug Administration
and our own State Department of Nutrition regarding the quality of the food we
serve every day. We also strive to constantly improve the quality and choices
available in our nutrition program.
We have added many new items and have retained many favorites. Be sure to check
each week to view your menus.
This year, in addition to encouraging your students to do their best in the
classroom, make it a practice for them to participate in your school’s
nutrition program. A nutritious breakfast and lunch will go a long way toward
enhancing their chances for success in the classroom. It’s also very
important that at home your students eat and snack healthy!
We have added a team of experts who specialize in nutrition, fitness and
health. Their articles will now appear each month. Read the latest from
Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine specialists, Dr.’s Ayoob, Breland and Evans,
and nutrition and fitness recommendations especially for Moms from Maryann
Jacobsen and Tracey Mallett.
Our new Fruit and Veggie of the Month section is loaded with information from
the Produce For Better Health Foundation. Learn more about your favorites and
some you have yet to try!
